Are you ready to add another tool to your digital classroom? Whether you work in a brick and mortar school, do distance learning, or perhaps a hybrid, you’ll want to know about the TPT digital activities platform, also known as “EASEL.” Teachers Pay Teachers is making it easy for buyers of TPT products to turn that ho-hum static pdf into an interactive assignment for posting in google classroom using the (drum roll please) TPT digital activities platform, EASEL!
What is the TPT Digital Activities Platform? (EASEL)
Well, it solves some problems for you, especially if you are doing distance learning. It offers you the chance to add a digital overlay to an existing pdf so you can customize it for the needs of your students. AND you can easily assign it to google classrroom using an access code! If you don’t know how to set up a google classroom, this post will be helpful.
Here’s what you can easily do on EASEL:
- prepare and individualize an assignment for your students,
- select certain pages of a pdf to assign to students,
- provide additional directions to the pdf for your students,
- add text boxes to a document for your students,
- customize the size and color of your text,
- highlight or circle parts of the pdf,
- add external links,
- print the pdf file,
- add self-checking multiple choice questions,
- assign the document to your student(s) in google classroom.
Here’s what your student can do:
Your students can interact with the resource in the following ways IF the resource includes these options!
Always check the preview page of the product for this information.
- open the assignment in google classroom,
- complete the assignment using the TPT digital overlay, Easel,
- type answers in text boxes,
- use the pen tool to circle, draw, color or write,
- read the directions you’ve added to the pdf,
- drag and drop,
- highlight information on the pdf,
- click on external links,
- click on self-checking questions and receive response feedback,
- turn the completed assignment into your google classroom.
Can every product on TPT be used on EASEL?
No. Teachers can find thousands of Easel resources available on the TPT Marketplace by using the Easel Format filter. Individual teachers can also create their own resources from scratch or upload any PDF they have purchased or have the rights to use directly into Easel. You will know that a product can be used on the TPT digital activities platform if it has the following information on the product page.
What can’t I do?
You can’t delete any of the existing images or text that the seller created. You will see an “edit pages” box which means you can choose the pages you send to your students, (not edit existing content).
You can’t share the activity you modified with other teachers.
You can’t print out the EASEL document (but you can print the original pdf).
Interactive pdfs cannot be used on the EASEL platform.
