Halloween is a perfect time to use youtube videos!
I love incorporating youtube videos into my therapy sessions! Although trick or treat and dressing in costumes is no longer allowed in my school (sad face), I still find ways to incorporate Halloween into my speech therapy sessions. My preschool students love them! Here is a description of a few of my favorite Halloween youtube videos for preschool and kindergarten children! I’ve chosen videos without frightening images!

Ghost Family | Halloween Children’s Song With Mother Goose Club Playhouse
I use this youtube video to work on answering wh questions by pausing it and asking questions about the content (who questions about momma ghost, papa ghost, and baby ghost, where questions: on the ground, in the sky). It is also rich with actions words performed by ghosts (swooping, gliding) and full of rhyming words. Even though it features ghosts, it is very child-friendly! It is just over 10 minutes long but remember, you don’t need to watch the entire video! Immediately following this video is a sing-a-long of ghost family that features the words!

Who Took The Candy? | Halloween Songs + More Kids Songs | Super Simple Songs
This is a great youtube video for working on answering “who” questions and understanding and using the vocabulary of Halloween (pirates, ghosts, witch etc). It is just over two minutes long. Watch the video with your students and then play your own game of “who took the candy?” and practice using the names of your students in the group.

If You’re a Kid [Halloween Remix] (October-themed song for kids)
This youtube video is so engaging! I love it for working on following directions and understanding complex “if-then” clauses (“if you’re a boy, crawl like a spider”). The music is catchy and your students will love the opportunity to move and act out the words. It is 2:44 long and you can follow it with your own set of “if-then” directions!

The Skeleton Dance + More | Dance Songs for Kids | Super Simple Songs
This kid’s rendition of “dem bones” is simple and perfect for working on body parts vocabulary! It is 2:14 long and I follow it with Mr. Potato Head or a game using recycled parts of an old plastic skeleton Halloween decoration. I give each “bone” male and female characteristics and I use it to work on pronouns, “he” and “she” with my preschool students.

Five Creepy Spiders/Halloween Song-Super Simple Songs
This youtube video is 2:37 in length and is a simple song for working with the pre-K or emerging communicator crowd on simple action words (crawl, fly, dance etc). It is repetitive and great for early talkers. I sometimes follow it with using plastic spiders to work on marking the /s/ in prevocalic /s/ blends.
